Hand beading and quilting on textile

art that examines the transience of Life

So whether you’re standing broke in the rain,
Or playing poker or drinking champagne,
Death’s looking for you, he’s already on the way,
So look out for him tomorrow or perhaps today.

from “Blues” by W. H. Auden

I make artwork, often textile-based,  that reflects on the frailty of Life and inevitability of Death. This genre is called memento mori — meaning “remember you will die”. Notwithstanding the seriousness of the subject, I try to embroider it with a thread of wit.
